A heat pump is a thermodynamic  device  that  is capable of extracting low grade energy from atmospheric air, upgrading it to a higher temperature  and  transferring it to provide useful water heating. Heat Pumps can heat water to 70 degrees Celcius and operate in air temperatures from – 15 degrees Celcius  to + 50 degrees Celcius.

Heat Pumps are generally electrically driven but for every one unit of electricity they consume, up to 5 units of heating can be provided.
